Wonder if anybody watch 'Life story' on channel 5, 9pm just now? as the title explains, it tells about the life story of different people, most of them are the unfortunate ones. and yeah,as i watch the show just now,i cried and my tears flows like tapwater. i really empathsize with the old grandma.Decided to copy and paste the episodic synopsis here but unable to, cause it has copyright -.-", well it's okay, i'll just type it out.
This is a story about the financial plight of 73 year old Mdm Tan Chin Neo. Stricken with serve arthritis and suffering from painful knesscaps, she lost her job as a toliet cleaner earning $600 per month. As a result, her family lost their sole breadwinner. Her three adult sons are not able to hold any permanent jobs; her eldest worked as an odd job laborer, earning about $40 a day. Her second son is medically unfit due to his poor health and her third son having been reccently discharged from the Drug Rehabilitation Centre faces a lot of problems finding a job. On top of her three grown up sons, she has to take care of her daughter's three small children. Her daughter who is mentally subnormal, is divorced from her husband. Having no money to pay their electricity bills, the famili's had to live with no power. At times, the only food they have are just scraps of bread. Mdm Tan doesn't qualify for regular social welfare support because her adult sons are deemed suitable to find jobs.
isn't the story sad? my heart always goes out to those old ah ma and ah gong who still needs to work despite their old age,really. whenever i see those ah ma or ah gong working at fastfood resturant, those toliet cleaners and those selling tissues on the street etc, i'll feel really sad inside.
I guess they have no choice but to work to support themselves or their families. who'll wanna work when you're of an old age right?
Actually,I'm really quite amazed by how some people are so materalistic. they can always have a shopping list on their mind, targeting brands after brands and they spend their money like water.
Not only that, some wants to have good food for every meal. it's like as if eating simple would hurts.
Some people wants it all; diamond rings,bigger house,branded goods,expensive food etc. however some have it none. they're just contended to have shelter,food,clothes & enough money to make ends meet.
Every life tells a different set of story. and unfortunately, some have to go through so much.
